FEATURED BUSINESS: The Foundation for Senior Wellbeing

The Foundation for Senior Wellbeing is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to serve the health, physical, intellectual and social needs of seniors. We are dedicated to improving and enhancing the lives of the growing population of seniors throughout North San Diego County by fostering the Five Elements of Senior Wellbeing:

  1. A sense of purpose
  2. Supportive relationships
  3. Financial Security
  4. Community pride
  5. Good physical health

The Foundation’s vision is to link seniors, caregivers, families, and those who serve them to resources in North County. This is accomplished through the Information Resource Center. Just like in the movie “Ghostbuster”, when you’re looking for help – “who you gonna call?” You can call the Information Resource Center (Center). Assistance is just a phone call, or step through the door, away.

Tips from The Foundation for Senior Wellbeing:

  1. Researching online or making endless phone calls can be exhausting and frustrating. Don’t let the thought of a possible daunting task keep you from getting answers. Let the specially trained volunteers at the Center do that background search for you.
  1. Once resources have been provided, follow through with those calls. Here’s the chance to find the information you’ve been looking for. Although the Center reviews all the referral resources, the ultimate responsibility rests with you. Whether you have a positive or negative experience, it is very helpful to share that with the Center volunteers.
  1. Sharing that experience is simple as the Center volunteers will follow up on every inquiry and will be asking you about your experience with the resources provided. If more resources are needed, they will continue researching for other available resources. Or if you are satisfied with those you have received, we want to know that as well.

The Information Resource Center provides referrals to available resources in the areas of: housing, home repair, transportation, food/nutrition needs, emergency assistance, medical or mental health issues, legal issues, and more.  The information is available by phone or in person and provided by specially trained staff and volunteers.  Our phone number is: 760-891-8176 and email is: irc@thefoundationforseniorwellbeing.org  The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  We are located at 131 Richmar Avenue, San Marcos 92069 (the building is located behind Fire Station #1 and shares the parking lot with the San Marcos Senior Activity Center).
